Restored to Run - The 2012 Sponsored Alvis Tour
Ellel Ministries International

How God used a Wrecked Car to Give Birth to the Vision for Ellel Ministries!

The Alvis and The Vision

In early 1970 Peter Horrobin acquired the remains of an old car - the car of his dreams! But it was a total wreck! This 1934 Alvis Speed 20 had been stolen, crashed, vandalised, set on fire and finally pushed into the River Mersey! A friend recovered the pieces and Peter paid him £50 for what was left of the car!

On the 18th of June 1970 he began to dismantle the remains of the vehicle. He worked through the night and at about 4.00am in the morning an awful reality dawned on him - the chassis was bent! At first he thought the car was beyond repair.

But Peter was suddenly aware of the presence of God, who was saying to him, "You could restore this broken car – but I can restore broken lives." Then God asked him a question, "Which is more important?". And with this Peter's vision for restoring broken lives was birthed. He faithfully prayed every day into the vision. And sixteen years later the first Centre was opened at Ellel Grange - the work of restoring broken lives had begun! And for the past twenty-five years God has been using Ellel Ministries to restore His people to wholeness and teach God's keys for healing and discipleship. around the world and countless lives have been touched through the ministry.

But What Happened to the Car?

Peter originally thought it would take two years to fully restore the car. But it has taken him a little longer than expected – forty years longer! A blueprint of the car's design was obtained from the Alvis Company, and a specialist engineer straightened the chassis according to the maker's instructions. Now, the full restoration is almost complete. And in June and July 2012 Peter will be driving the car on a 2000 mile sponsored tour of all the UK Ellel Centres and the Netherlands Centre at Baak House.

At each Centre Peter will conduct "Restored to Run" - a new, unique and dynamic Ellel course in which the story of the car becomes a parable of how God wants to restore our broken lives and put each one of us back on the road of life.

Sponsoring the Alvis Tour

God used this wonderful old car to give Peter the vision for what became Ellel Ministries.
God has now given him a fresh vision to drive the car on a sponsored 2000 mile trip to all
our UK and Dutch Centres - to both teach on how God wants to restore our lives and to
help restore the finances of the ministry for today's generation.

Over the years Ellel's properties have been used as security to provide vital funding at critical
moments for major developments and needs, ranging from the purchase of Blairmore House
to funding vital ministries overseas in places as diverse as Eastern Europe, Africa and India.
The Trustees believe it's now important to reduce, and even eliminate, our bank borrowings,
so that all our future income can be used for the purposes of the ministry and not for the
repayment of loans.

So, we are now praying that many will want to sponsor the Alvis Tour and help secure the
finances of the ministry for the years ahead.
